MKE Heroes Training

MKE Heroes Training offers affordable, community-centered emergency response courses designed to equip participants with essential life-saving skills tailored to the specific needs of underserved neighborhoods. In partnership with the City of Milwaukee Office of Community Wellness & Safety, this training is available at no cost for individuals living in Milwaukee Promise Zones (MPZs)—areas disproportionately affected by health disparities and emergency response gaps. For those outside of Promise Zones, training remains available at an affordable rate, ensuring accessibility for all. To check if you live in an MPZ, visit: Milwaukee Promise Zones.

Participants receive certifications in CPR, AED, First Aid, and Traumatic Hemorrhage Control, preparing them to respond effectively in medical emergencies. Additionally, MKE Heroes offers Narcan Administration and Fentanyl Test Strip training, providing crucial skills to combat the ongoing opioid crisis.

For young learners, 9-1-1 for Kids® teaches children in grades K4 through 5th grade how to correctly use 9-1-1 in emergencies, reducing unnecessary calls while ensuring they know how to get help when it matters most. By introducing emergency preparedness at an early age, we help build a culture of safety and readiness in the next generation.

MKE Heroes Training is specifically designed for Milwaukee residents, prioritizing neighborhoods with higher rates of violent crime and limited access to emergency services. By focusing on these communities, we ensure that individuals are prepared to take action—especially in situations where professional medical assistance may be delayed.

Thanks to our partnership with the City of Milwaukee Office of Community Wellness & Safety, the cost of training and certifications is fully covered for residents of Milwaukee Promise Zones, eliminating financial barriers to participation. For those outside these zones, training remains low-cost and accessible, ensuring that no one is turned away due to financial constraints.

Beyond emergency preparedness, MKE Heroes Training fosters community resilience, empowering participants with the confidence and ability to assist in crisis situations. Graduates not only gain valuable certifications but also join a growing network of trained responders committed to enhancing public safety and strengthening their communities.

By combining life-saving training with workforce development, MKE Heroes equips participants with skills that can open doors to careers in healthcare, emergency response, and public safety. This dual impact—empowering individuals while creating career pathways—sets MKE Heroes apart as a transformative program dedicated to community well-being and safety.
